Business Law COB 318 in Europe

Program description
This will be an eight week program with students traveling and studying in London, Brussels and Paris for approximately three weeks and completing the remaining weeks online. The class flies to London, home of our common law legal system, where students spend about a week exploring the city and visiting the Royal Courts of Justice, Westminster Abbey, the British Library, Piccadilly Circus, Harrods and a cruise on the Thames to visit. We will then travel to Brussels, the capital of the EU, to visit the European Parliament, the Commission of the European Union and the Council of the European Union. In Brussels we will also tour the Waterloo battlefield and visit the city of Bruges with its canals, cobblestone streets and medieval buildings. The class then travels to Paris, the City of Lights, visiting the Palace of Justice, the Paris Courts of Justice, the Louvre, the Museum d’Orsay, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Opera Garnier, Champs Elysees , Arc de Triomphe, Rodin Museum, Napoleon’s tomb, Sacre Coeur, Montmartre and a cruise on the Seine. The focus is on contracts, tradable instruments, the uniform commercial code and the functioning of the court systems. Upon completion, the students should be able to apply ethical principles and laws to selected situations of corporate decision-making.

Accommodations
The students live in hotels in double or triple rooms.
Breakfast is served daily in each hotel. There will be roughly two group meals per week and students will receive a meal grant every week.
Additional points to consider
Students must bring appropriate clothing for business and court visits.
The traveler must be in possession of a passport that is valid for 6 months after the stay and a return ticket.
