In December 2020, Governor Cuomo signed a law to simplify and improve the authority of the state. Starting next June, the new form eliminates the gift driver and allows for a language that is essentially the law rather than the exact wording. It’s also more affordable for nursing home residents and people with disabilities. Deepankar Mukerji, elected chairman of the Senior Laws and Special Needs Division of the NY State Bar Association, will explain the implications and address questions and issues that may remain unclear.
