Power of lawyer: the loving gesture that complicates banks | cash
TThree of the UK’s largest banks and building societies still do not allow customers who care about their loved ones finances to register online.
You can be authorized by a power of attorney (POA) to take care of the affairs of someone close to you who is unable to do so. However, although banks and building societies are closing many of their branches, some do not accept registration on the Internet.
TSB only lets someone register a POA about a customer’s affairs in a branch. The nationwide building society requires citizens to visit a branch or send applications by post. Barclays only offers phone service to those unable to visit a branch, with applicants having to upload documents during a call.
